Our summer months are so precious so, whatever the British weather does this August, make sure you embrace it with Attitude!
This issue we’ve got some great ways to enjoy being outside in your garden as well as further afield. Why not combine a cheeky cocktail with a BBQ and sit and just take in all your outside space and nature has to offer?
We’re always here if you want further inspiration, in the meantime read on …
Happy summer!
Chris & all the Bushy team
Everyone loves Echinacea
Echinacea (Coneflower) is a great perennial to add to your garden; it flowers in the summer and bees and butterflies love it – as you can see from the picture! It has these attractive, large daisy-like flowers that you can choose in various lovely colours including pink, orange, white and red.
BBQ without fear
It’s August but sometimes it doesn’t feel like it does it! You don’t have to let the British weather defeat you in enjoying your BBQs though; there are a variety of stylish shelters AKA a Scandinavian-inspired ‘Grill Kota’ to protect your sausages and allow you to relax all year round. We like this one from Arctic Cabins which has a bar too!
Or you could have one built – or you could go for modern aluminium gazebos.
An August Adventure outside
If you want an outside adventure that everyone can enjoy, after a lovely walk in the Windsor Great Park the Adventure Play next to The Savill Garden is now open! It is a wonderful construction of walkways, slides, sculptures and treehouses that will enchant children from 2 to 12 years. Tickets are on sale for visits up to 3 September 2023. Future dates will be released periodically. And it’s next to the café for refreshments galore.
Be seen at Basildon Park this season
Whether you’re a fan of TV series ‘Bridgerton’ or not Basildon Park, near Reading, Berkshire, is worth a day out. An 18th-century Palladian-style mansion, its Garden Room and parterre were both used to film an evening party scene in series 2. But there is so much more to discover, including a rose garden, Italian terrace and historic trees – so make the most of its ‘summer’ season and pay it a visit.
Bushy Beverage
Sorry to do this to you but if you want to shake it up after all those beer festivals and also take advantage of this season’s raspberry crop, it’s time to follow the movies and say ‘hi’ to this ‘Sparkling Pink Barbie’ cocktail! Fill a shaker with ice cubes, add 2 oz pink gin, 1 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled champagne flute. Add 2-3 dashes of edible pink glitter or shimmer dust, top up with sparkling rosé wine and fresh raspberry (for garnish). Barbie-tastic!
Until next time!
