Colour and cheer
Drumstick primula (Primula denticulate) is a lovely little plant that provides pretty flowers each spring in purple, lilac pink, lavender, white or crimson. Well worth considering for your garden.
Lovely on the outside and inside
In the last few years, the ‘outdoor living room’ has come of age with more people introducing well-appointed fitments and luxury furnishings into their gardens. Achieving the right look and feel requires careful planning and design, so that your multi-functional garden doesn’t lose its vital natural appeal.Plan each area of the garden and give it structure. And consider some winter-flowering plants to position near the front door to create interest.
You can combine elements like brick and granite with coloured glass and ceramics for interiors. You can actually use them to create features like a rug in an attractive pattern. As well choosing outdoor furniture in luxury materials, maximise lighting – perhaps light up a sculpture as a centre piece? Talk to us about ideas on all this.
Discover picturebook Scotney
If you’re looking for new places to go this spring visit Scotney Castle near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. It has a great example of a Picturesque garden design, with a 14th-century moated castle and a Victorian country mansion. Picture perfect!
