Celebrate 25 years with us! …
If you’ve visited our website recently, you may have noticed the new logo (also here), proudly marking our 25th anniversary. Over the years we’ve had the absolute pleasure of working in some wonderful gardens, realising the dreams of many lovely customers, several of whom are long-standing friends now too.
Yes, the work can be hard and the British weather sometimes unforgiving – but we feel lucky to have been able to enjoy being in the landscaping business and look forward to many years ahead of bringing your gardens alive.
Celebrating our 25 years got us thinking about some of the gardens we’ve landscaped and what they look like now. The trees we’ve planted have, of course, grown along with us and so it seemed fitting in this issue to celebrate these long-living giants of nature generally. We look at how you can have trees in your garden – see below.
Happy reading and thank you to all our customers who have shared our Bushy Business with us over the last 25 years! We wouldn’t be here without you – cheers!

Celebrating Silver
Silver birch is a popular garden tree with its attractive bark and does well in a range of temperatures. It also looks interesting all year round so is well worth consideration. Here at Bushy, we’re looking at buying a silver birch tree for our own garden as silver denotes our 25 years!
Tree-mendous ideas for gardens
You may have seen and heard about various ‘plant a tree’ initiatives, including the government’s scheme to help boost tree-planting rates in the fight against climate change.
Having a tree or trees in your garden is possible if you select the right one/s for your space. They can provide interest and colour throughout the year, as well as giving structure. They can also make good habitats for wildlife.
Visiting an arboretum may help you with what to choose – Wisley Gardens has a splendid collection in areas like the Jubilee Arboretum, the Orchard and the Pinetum. The RHS has a useful video about choosing a tree here. Please ask us about the possibilities too!
If you want colourful leaves, an Acer palmatum, or Japanese Maple, provides gorgeous shades of red, green or yellow. For blossom and fruit, a crab apple is good. For fragrance, magnolia is a possibility and then for Christmas berries consider photinia and holly.
The (Chelsea Flower) Show must go on!
At the time of writing you can still get tickets to the first ever autumn Chelsea Flower Show. Held between 21 – 26 September, it has cutting-edge design ideas, as well as fabulous floral displays. The centrepiece is the RHS Queen’s Green Canopy Garden, a towering green and purple woodland over wildflower meadows. Watch the TV highlights too.
September sizzle
Keep eking out the last of the warm days with a garden BBQ party – and make the most of the glut of apples around with some stuffed apples roasting in the embers. And, in case the British weather isn’t so balmy, there are some great firepit and heater ideas to keep the party atmosphere going in Hello Magazine.
Bushy Beverage
If you’re celebrating a special occasion – or even if you just want to have a fun afternoon out – you could head to Denbies to enjoy their Vineyard, Tea & Train tour. Relax with a glass of Denbies Sparkling Wine as you journey through the vineyard. Then stop for traditional afternoon tea served at the hotel (with more fizz!). Details are here.
Until next time!
